Liquid Based Cytology Laboratory
The liquid based pap method differs from the conventional method in that the cervical sample is collected in a liquid and not smeared directly onto a glass slide.
The liquid containing the cell specimens is used to prepare smears in a unique way that eliminates obscuring material such as blood, mucus and inflammatory cells, resulting in cleaner smears and more secure diagnoses.
100% of cells collected are sent for testing compared to as little as 20% using conventional pap smear testing.
